lists

Well, today it hit me that the day is coming, and SOON!

I've had dreams, I've had lists, I've had countdowns... but today, I couldn't stop thinking about the wedding!

So, I sat down and made a list of everything that I could possibly think of that we have to do. And I mean, everythign. Itemized so that "print programs, hole-punch programs, and tie ribbons around programs" are 3 separate items. Because they'll probably happen separately.

Then, I sat down and prioritized. When could I do things? The things is, I started to worry that I was going to try to do everything at once or end up doing nothing at all from overloading. So I have lists by the week. 8-11 things per week. Some are simple, like "Send rehearsal dinner invitation" where some are more difficult, like "Make seating arrangements."

I'm excited that it's so close. 6 weeks worth of planning, doing, organizing, and thinking before it all comes together.

It also means only 5 weeks left of work before I am all wedding, all the time. I can't wait.

The big 5-0

Today marks 50 days until the wedding.

We've been having a fantastic summer, and so far I think we're doing well at enjoying our summer without letting this wedding take over our lives. At least, as much as possible!

So, what wedding things to share? RSVPs are coming in now... and I keep crossing my fingers that we stay under 69%. Otherwise we'll have numbers issues. If the 180 people that haven't responded follow suit of the 90 who have, we'll be just fiine at 64%.

Not like I'm counting or obsessing.

My to-do list still seems interminably long, but I'm not sure there's anything else that I can do about it right now. It's too early to do some things.

For now, I'll enjoy going to someone else's wedding this weekend: a dear, dear friend who is like my sister.

And I'll keep obsessing with my numbers.

It's been a long time!

Well, it's been a long time. And I've had 2 people ask me about the blog, so I thought I would write something. I hadn't been sure if people were still even reading the details, so I had kind of let things go.

I moved since the last post, so that's probably why I've been so slow at updating. Other things going on, we kind of put wedding planning to the side.

But we've been making hay like crazy lately... er, making progress!

The only interesting thing that's happened lately has been in regards to our guest book.

2 months or so ago, one of my cousins offered to make the guest book for us. She makes handmade books and wanted to make the guestbook. We discussed the idea and decided together that we would rather go a different route that we had been planning on. When we finally purchased our own supplies, I was getting ready to tell my cousin that we were going another direction...

Right about that time, I got a message from her saying she's purchased all the supplies and was ready to go to make the book, she just needed to know how many people to plan for...

I was kind of speechless at first. I wondered if I had maybe given her the go-ahead without realizing it, but Nick was adamant about our decision and reminded me that I shouldn't give in, just because of an over-excited cousin who bought supplies without having actual confirmation from us.

So, back goes a message to the cousin, apologizing for any miscommunication, but saying that we're going a different route and have already purchased other supplies.

Not to mention, as a side note, part of me wondered, "How do you even know that I would have liked the supplies you purchased?"

So, I curbed my frustrated self that wanted to lash out and sent a very kind and apologetic message instead.

My future mother-in-law said I can blame it on her next time. Good plan.

Wedding Free

This past weekend we vowed to have a wedding free weekend. I mean, it's 5 months away! We can do that.

I only cheated a little bit. Those truffle boxes were screaming at me, yelling to be turned into pretty little boxes. I only did 5 or so.

But other than that, we were quite successful!

This week we're in a whirlwind of wedding related activities - try on/pick-up wedding dress (okay, that one is just me!), taste food for the reception (give me your opinion now!), do all the things we were supposed to do last week, call all the people we want to have do thigns and are planning on, but haven't actually officially asked...

Practice typing skills.

Okay, that's not wedding related. But my typing is horrible this blog post, have had to go back and correct numerous times, so that's definitely on the list. Might play an online typing game and be utterly nerdy.

151 days!

Wedding panic

Just had a little bit of panic. Wondering if this will be our one "chaotic" moment?

Got a message from one of our groomsmen's wife, asking which Kohl's to buy the shirt at because they couldn't find it.

So I start to reply, ready to include a link of the shirt so they can order online if they can't find it.

And I can't find the link online! I'm scouring the Kohl's site, looking where I've always looked, and I can't find it! Panic at the disco.

So, I manage to find it somehow, finding it in my histories, and notice it's marked down even more now than it was when we bought it a few weeks ago. Does this mean that they're discontinuing the shirt?

Just in case, I tell the wife to make sure they get it soon, that it's hard to find and looks like it's maybe getting discontinued. I notice there are less sizes available now than there were when we first found it online. Uh oh. Will everyone be able to find it? Will our groomsmen be able to get it? Have they all found it already? So far only one has informed us that he's found the shirt...

So, a little panic on my end...

And we inch along...

It seems easier and easier to check things off the list.

We've figured out what we's like for flowers. Now all we have to do is order them, figure out how/where to store them, and not let them die and the few days that they are in our possession.

We've picked out shirts for our groomsmen, a peach striped, button-down, long-sleeved shirt. It will contrast nicely to the bright, summery green the bridesmaids will be wearing.

And I'm losing weight! Yay!

list update

Sorry it's been so long! It's been a crazy time, but we're starting to feel like things are coming together!

We have:
  • Sent out save the dates this week (ee! It seems so real!)
  • Picked out bridesmaid dresses
  • Booked a photographer
  • Bought a bridal dress for me, myself, and I
  • Entertained all kinds of people
  • Bought a honeymoon swimsuit

Finally, it starts to come together!
