Facebook.

So, I have 277 friends on Facebook. I did not tell each and every one of them individually that I was engaged before we announced it.

I have one off-again/on-again friend of mine who I haven't seen in a while. We've talked on Gmail-chat a few times, but not a whole lot in person or on the phone lately. I've kind of droped the ball, I'll admit, but life happens. Our relationship isn't solid and mostly casual, so not something major. She was on the invite list, of course, but not on the "I must call or talk to this person before announcing my engagement on Facebook."

Apparently, I made a mistake. At least, in her eyes! After announcing our engagement, she came online on Gmail one day and said, "So when were you going to tell me you were engaged? A month after your wedding. NICE!" (That's verbatim. I copied it from my chat history.)

Oops. So, I go to e-mail her the link for this blog, thinking she'll enjoy it, and get ready to send it to her through Facebook like I did a few others. I can't find her on my list. Strange. When I use the search option, she doesn't come up. I find her and it says, "Add as friend." Well, then, I've been unfriended!

I called this weekend and played innocent, asking if she wanted to get together while Nick was watching football. Left a message, because she didn't answer. She never called back.

Unapologetically, I am taking her off my guest list.

  1. Seriously? People need to get over it! Life is busy and it doesn't mean you don't care. Geesh... she needs to just be happy for you and deal. But I guess it doesn't matter anymore... her loss! :)
I love this blog! It's so fun!
