So, we live in Minneapolis. Home of the Target headquarters. And I like Target, really, I do.
We've decided to register at Target. We went on Saturday to begin the process - we knew we might not get it all done in one shot, but we wanted to get started so that we would be done by the time Save the Dates went out.
So there we are, starting our registry, and we bring our little piece of paper to the guest service desk.

Target Team Member: "Oh, I'm sorry, we only have 3 working scanners right now and they're all in use."
Nikki: "Oh. Well."
Target Team Member: "Why don't I hold onto your sheet here and the next one that comes in, I'll hold it for you."
Nikki: "Okay, well, we can go pick up a few things we need and come back."
As we walk away, we hear:
Target Team Member to other Target Team Member: "So, the next one that comes in, save it because they're waiting for a scanner.
--
We walk away and get some things. Chips and salsa for the Vikings game, bathroom supplies, the usual. Then we start wandering around the bedding, the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room areas.
15 minutes after first encounter, Nick goes back to check. We've seen at least 1 person walking around with a scanner.
--
He comes back. No luck, they're all still in use.
--
We walk around some more. Nick says he'll let me get all red things for the kitchen (yay!) Before we start the long, drawn-out "What dishes should we get?" discussion, he goes back to check.
--
He comes back, dejected, and relays this interaction.
Nick standing in line. Gets to the front. Sees the first lady from initial interaction.
Target team member (looking at a different Target team member, not one of the first two): Oh, shoot, that was what we were supposed to do.
Then, to Nick: "I'm sorry, I gave the scanner to someone else."

Well.
We left the store. We won't be registering at that Target. I might complain to Target that I'm not so sure that I even want to register there anymore.
But they have nice things. And they're reasonably priced. And everyone loves to get gifts at Target. And Target is always my default for wedding gifts.
So we'll probably still register at Target. Just not the one in Edina, MN 55435.

I'm sorry about your experience at that Target... But maybe you just need to go to a bigger and better Target! It's such a great place to register. :) Fun stuff galore!!!
